Quick Update on Will

I have just a few minutes before having to get back up to the hospital with Mary Ann and check in on the girls at Grandma's. I thought I'd try a very quick update. Mary Ann was released yesterday but they were able to find an unused room in the hospital to let her stay in so she could stay close for feedings. The room is in an unused part of the hospital and very quiet so we decided to bring the girls over and let them spend some time with Mom which was nice. Will go moved yesterday, too. From NICU room 1 to NICU room 2. That's about 40 feet tops. But it is a small sign of improvement. He still hasn't been able to get his glucose levels under control on his own so they still have him on IV's and added a feeding tube. He also became jaundiced so he's under the fry warmer lamps. Poor guy. He had the shakes last night from messed up sugar levels and was just jittery. But on the other side of things it all looks good. Its just a matter of getting him the food and supplements he needs to get him bigger and stronger and then feeding on his own and things should work themselves out. Thank you to everyone who has prayed to get him here and continue to pray on his behalf.

  2. Congratulations!! I am so glad that your little guy made it here okay, although I am sorry to hear about the problems you are having to deal with. Some of it sounds very similar to things we dealt with last week with the arrival of our little Halle. She weighed in at 4 lbs. 13 oz. and she spent the first day and a half in the NICU because she was having trouble keeping her blood sugar up. Thankfully she did get to come home with me, but we did have to worry a little bit about jaundice, but she was able to flush it out of her body on her own. Our family wishes your family the best. And once again congrats!

  4. Hello Mary Ann and Scott. I'm Mary Ann's cousin Jolie. My mom just got home from the Turner reunion and she gave updates on the family. She mentioned your blog and I'm so glad to be able to read about your little family and get updates on how you are doing. You are all in my prayers. Love Jolie

  5. Hey, congratulations! Mary Ann, boys are great! You are going to have a blast! One day all of this will be behind you and it will just be a memory. It has been 10 years, since we did not think Balint (for the sake of accuracy, he got seriously ill when he was 3 weeks old and spent 6 weeks in the hospital)was going to make it, or if he did he would have serious problems. Looking back, it almost feels surreal now. He is an amazing, strong, healthy, smart kid (now with a preteen attituude brewing), that all our fear, heartache seems like a bad dream we had a long time ago.
